We had been at the clubhouse for a while, and I was relaxed. I’d snacked on some pretzels, and Blaze had been a little heavy handed with the tequila when he had made me a margarita, but I had a great buzz going.

“You okay?” Blaze asked, his mouth close to my ear as we swayed to some song I didn’t recognize. I nodded and then shivered feeling his scruffy facial hair against my neck.

“Totally.”

“Jinx needs me to look at something. You okay staying here, or you want me to find July?”

“Na. I’m okay.” I looked up at him. July was probably with Wes in some dark corner. “I’ll be fine.”

“Okay, baby.” He led me off the dance floor and over toward the bar, pulling a barstool back for me to sit down. “I’ll be right back.” He kissed the top of my head, and I watched as he walked out with Jinx.

Did I really love Blaze?

Was Tennessee really home now?

If I had been paying attention, I would have noticed the group of women nearing. I would have been ready when one of them bumped my shoulder, causing me to almost drop my phone and the blonde snatch it from my hand.

“Aww! Look, girls! How cute is this! She has a picture of them on her phone!” She showed the screen around, and I clenched my jaw. “Is Blazey’s flavor of the week catching feelings?” she ooed, but I could see she wanted to pick a fight.

“Can I have my phone back?” I asked, ignoring anything she had to say. The girl was in another super tight outfit and wore bright red lipstick. There was no doubt she could definitely rock it. She was beautiful. But it was in her eyes where I could see that she really didn’t like me.

“I really hope you’re being careful with him.” She leaned in, and I moved my face back, “You don’t want to get attached to him. He’s
